Claim Notification Basics

If you are looking to submit a claim, remember that a claim notification form must be completed under certain circumstances:

  • You’re claiming for the first time.
  • Your last claim was made more than three years ago before the claim notification period ends.

Additionally, if your previous claim was submitted in the last six months of the Company Tax Return amendment window, you may need to submit a claim notification form for two consecutive accounting periods.

Who Will Submit the Notification?

As your dedicated accountants and agents, we will handle the completion and submission of the claim notification form on your behalf.

Essential Information Required

To ensure a smooth submission, the following information is required

  • The main senior internal R&D contact in your company responsible for the R&D claim, such as a company director.
  • The contact details of any other agents involved in the R&D claim.
  • The accounting period start and end dates for which you’re claiming the tax relief or expenditure credit, ensuring it aligns with your Company Tax Return.
  • A high-level summary of the planned activities that highlight how your project meets the standard definition of R&D. For example, if you’ve developed software, please describe its intended use. While you don’t need to provide evidence at this stage, we will require further information for the additional information form later.
